How push notification works?

hello,
I can't quite figure out how push notifications work since I can't see/activate them even here at community.nodebb.org.

I am using NodeBB 4.4.4.

I see that in the settings there is and active "Push Notifications (via Push API) but nowhere and nowhere do I ever get a suggestion to enable browser notifications.

Is there something I don't understand that needs to be enabled that I don't see or do they work differently than I imagine?

ska there should be a user setting page for push notifications, and they are activated on a per-device level.

Does the toggle activate for you?

I see in F12 console this error:

But the web-push plugin is active and I even tried uninstalling -> deleting it and reinstalling it.

edit: I understand that the problem is with the “PEACE” theme.

Do you know if there is a patch for it?

ska the push notifications are now working again on the regular theme?

julian yep on "Harmony" works but It seems not to go only with the “Peace” theme.

I still have problems on Brave but maybe it's just a cache issue because on Firefox and Edge it's not giving me problems, I'll try again later from another computer.

I went back to the “original” theme because actually the ntfy push has the exact same problem, if I activate the PEACE theme the ntfy notifications don't go.

Can you tell me who is possible to tag for this plugin?

julian ah ok, I didn't realize that and didn't know that.

So it's basically abandoned and there will be no particular updates I guess, is it recommended to leave only web-push?

ska correct, since web-push relies on more modern browser supported technology and doesn't require a third-party service (in this case, ntfy.sh)
