Legitimately asking and not trying to be incendiary here... But if things like the Fediverse still have to comply with regulations that centralized platforms have to, what exactly is the protection that decentralized social media exactly offers?

Cuz like, just because my server is in, I dunno, Norway, if I'm serving users in the US, I'm still going to have to comply by US laws right?

[email protected] I don't think you are being incendiary, but in fact asking some very important questions.

As is usually the case with the introduction of new laws, whether it can actually be enforced is a matter of local law and statute, and also whether there have been precedents set in previous attempts to uphold the law .

In a situation like this, does the United States , or even just a single state, have the ability to uphold laws globally?

I predict that we will need to see this law challenged to determine whether or not it has any teeth outside of Mississippi, the United States, and beyond.
